Clarification regarding Relaxation in maximum duration of UG and PG courses of VTU. It is hereby clarified that two additional years are provided to the Under Graduate Course students and one additional year is provided to the Post Graduate course students, in addition to the existing maximum duration specified in the regulations of B.E./B.Tech./B.Arch./MBA/MCA/ M.Tech. courses, as a special one time measure.
This benefit is extended for all students admitted under the scheme applicable during 1998-2001 regulation(i.e. upto 2001 batch of students).
These students are permitted to take admissions/ readmissions to higher semester, if they are eligible to do so.
The last examination permitted to appear for the students belonging to various programmes under this benefit is as detailed below.

All PG batches who have completed their maximum duration in the year 2004-2005 and earlier are permitted one more additional year i.e. 2005-2006 to complete their course.These students should submit the thesis, if applicable, before 10/07/2006.
Going by this Circular a 2003- 2004 batch can write there last exam in July-2011.There was some discrepancies in my last Query. Please make a note of it.

Joined engineering in 2000 in old scheme. Joined 5th semester this year under the new scheme. Does this mean I cannot complete my engineering? Cause i'll complete my final year during 2008-2009.
no u can complete ur engineering.. the last exam date permitted under special benefit for u is July-2009 or July-2010 depending upon on ur batch, 1999-2000 or 2000-2001. All the best!!!

ya, u hav to complete ur engineering by july-2011 as per the article above.. just to be sure of any further rule change talk to your college principal once.. he is the best person to assist you...

Ive been doin my BE at this university for so long now most reasons because of my insufficient internal marks that i have to make up in the External exam. So many times realise there r one or the other Rules that exist but never knew,those that could be useful if i had known them before. Like.. the last time i visted this regional office, i was informed that my internals could have been rectified, with request letter to Belgaum. check out on this... may be useful to some...

Now there is a news about the change in the maximum of years for completion, according to OB 6.2.
That they have changed from 8 years to 6 years for Diploma Lateral Entry Scheme. Is it true??

Hi, I am one of the students of 2003-2004 batch, i had visited VTU regional office and had spoke to special officer, as per him, Diploma candidates should and must finish engineering in 6 years from the date of admission, where as PU students should and must complete in 8 years, applicable for 2002 scheme. I guess this is bitter truth, however if we request VTU REGISTRAR,may be they can consider and extend 2 years for diploma(6+2) and 2 years for PU(8+2). So i request you all brothers and sisters to request Mr. Registrar and have us all 2 years extended.

I joined BE on diploma basis and i'm in 6th sem now. I haven't cleared my M4 subject. Is M4 considered as a neck subject for diploma students also? I belong to 2001 batch, I completed my 8th semester in 2006. I have cleared all papers except 2 in 6th semester. After completing the course I got a job and was pretty happy with that, but after 2006 till date I have not attempted to give exams for any of those 2 backlogs, can anyone clarify am I an NFT or still I have a chance to take exams. Before approaching the principle and get embarrased thought some one here will clarify my queries.
